PITCH PACKAGE Need help writing a letter outlining your project? Don’t know what information to put in your query letter? Need help curating or formatting your resume? Need help getting your art sample together for submission? Don’t know where to start when it comes to pitching publishers? We can help whether you’ve already put a package together or are just starting. Try the Basic or Detailed Package if you already have a query letter, resume, and art sample together that you’d like feedback on. Try the Coaching Package if you need some help to get your ideas out, then want to go over the query package once it’s drafted.

OUTLINES Do you have the bones of your story together, either in summary or bullet point form? Do you need help figuring out if your basic story works? Wondering if the parts all fit together and if the story order makes sense? Does your story have a lot of moving parts that need some help to work together? Wondering if your story has enough character, conflict, or thematic development? Are you unsure how many pages your story should be? Putting an outline together before you start scripting can save you time and effort during the scripting process. We can help you put the bones of your story together before you spend hours writing a script. Try the Basic or Detailed Package if you already have an outline or 1-2-page story summary written. Try a Coaching Package if you need some help generating a basic outline, then want to go over the outline once it’s drafted.

SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT Have you written a script for your graphic novel, comic book, or zine? Do you need help making sure it has a strong story structure and development of major themes, conflicts, and characters? Are the themes, conflicts, and dialogue choices right for your audience level? Do you need help fleshing out or condensing your story? Making sure you have a strong script to work from can save you time and effort during the art stage. If you’re pitching a publisher or working with a collaborator it’s important to make sure your script is structured with clear descriptions. We can help you get your comics script ready for submission or for starting the art stage. Try the Basic or Detailed Package if you have a first draft of a script you’d like some feedback on. Try the Coaching Package if you have a finished draft and want to discuss approaches for your story.

STORY ORGANIZATION Are you unsure how your typed script translates into comics pages? How many panels should be on each page? How many pages of visual narrative will this scene or the overall story need? It can be hard to make the transition from script to visuals, but having a well-organized script and beat sheet to guide you can help. Every story beat has its own unique considerations. If you’re working with other artists, it’s helpful to have a clearly organized script for your collaborators. We’ll help you clarify your script’s information and pacing so you can get a good idea of how your written script will translate into layouts. Try the Basic or Detailed Package if you have a finished script and would like to check it using a beat sheet. Try the Coaching Package if you’d like to have a beat sheet created for your script and discuss how your major story points develop across the beat sheet.

ROUGHS The roughs stage is where the comics magic happens, but it can also be the most frustrating part of making comics. There are so many things to consider like scale, perspective, transitions, gestures, timing, and the best way to fit all the story information onto a page or spread. Is a scene just not quite working? Are your roughs much longer than your original script? Not sure if the visuals are drawing the reader’s eye as intended? Does the page feel too busy? We can help you clarify your visual narrative for readers at this early art stage so you can pencil and ink your comic with confidence. Try the Basic of Detailed package if you have a finished set of roughs that you want reviewed for reader clarity. Try the Coaching Package if you’d like your roughs reviewed with additional coaching on how to tackle rough revisions.

JUST COACHING Sometimes it’s hard to know what you might need, or if you have a specific question about one aspect of your story. What you really want is to ask an industry professional a few questions: How can I organize my project to meet my deadlines? Is this ending right for my story? How should I approach this sensitive scene? Sign up for a 45-minute one-on-one coaching session. Submit materials you’d like specific feedback on or any questions you'd like to discuss during your coaching session.
